I received the Shimano Castaic as an early birthday present this year and let me tell yah I dont think I could have asked for anything better! Everything about the Castaic is just wonderful! One of the first things I noticed while fishing with the Castaic was how natural it felt in my hand. this fishing reel sat in my hand like it was custom formed to fit the contour of my hand. It is such a comfortable reel to fish with.
The Castaic really shines in flipping and pitching situations with its dual thumb bars that actually allow you to open and engage the reels clutch without actually touching the cranking handle.
Another aspect I really like about the Shimano Castaic is the flip open thumb rest. This great feature allows easy access to the reel’s line guide. This feature makes fixing any nasty backlash mishaps easy.

I received this fishing reel as a gift, but you can bet your bottom dollar I would have no problem dropping $170 of my hard earned money on another, in fact I think its a sure bet that I will buying another. the Shimano Castaic is worth every penny and then some.
